Lauren Davis v Danka Kovinic Head to Head

There have been four previous meetings between these two players and both have won two apiece. Two of those came earlier this year with both winning one in three sets, in hardcourt competitoons.

Davis on a Four-Match Losing Streak

While on the one hand, Davis has had a solid season thanks to her performances in hardcourt competitions, she has also struggled to get going in more recent times.

In fact since qualifying for the main draw at the Washington Open and defeating Sloane Stephens in the first round, Davis has lost four matches in a row.

These include defeats to Belinda Bencic, Alycia Parks, Ann Li and Stephens.

Her most recent loss came at the hands of Stephens in the first round of the Cleveland Open as Davis looked to get some form back in the lead-up to the US Open. Unfortunately for her, after winning the first set, Davis went on lose the next two to crash out of the tournament.

Having made the third round at the US Open last year, Davis will hold a bit of an edge but at 1/2 (with bet365), it seems her match-winning odds are slightly short.

Kovinic Struggling to Keep Up with Auckland Showing

It’s interesting to note that much like Davis, Kovinic had started off the season rather well as she made the semifinal of the Auckland Open before falling to Cori Gauff there.

Since then, however, Kovinic hasn’t not done too much of note – not on the WTA circuit at least.

There was a quarterfinal appearance in the indoor hardcourts of Lyon but other than that, Kovinic hasn’t won successive matches in a WTA tournament. Also, since her five successive defeats in hardcourt tournaments leading to the first round ouster at the Miami Open earlier this year, Kovinic has played just one such tournament.

It came two weeks ago at the WTA Stanford, a WTA 125 level competition and Kovinic was dumped out in the second round.

She starts off a 5/3 (bet365) underdog here.

Davis v Kovinic Prediction and Tip

Davis will hold the edge but given the manner in which their contests have gone in the past, we believe it could be touch and go for her.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Davis to win: 1/2 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (with bet365)
