Elena Rybakina v Sorana Cirstea Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two with Rybakina winning them both. Both matches, however, came in 2020.

Rybakina Doesn’t Need to Lift Her Racquet

Ajla Tomljanovic is making a comeback this season after being out of action because of injury and had done well to reach the second round. Unfortunately for her, it seems like the injury that had caused her to remain out of action for a while, came back to haunt her before her second round match against Rybakina and she opted out of it.

A knee-related issue for Tomljanovic meant that Rybakina did not have to take to court to get by her second round encounter.

This follows a 6-2, 6-1 win over Marta Kostyuk in what could have been a tricky first round match-up for Rybakina.

Can she now tackle the veteran challenge of Cirstea with as much disdain as she had against Kostyuk as she hunts for her first ever fourth round slot of her US Open career. She sure starts a favourite with bet365 offering 3/10 for her win.

Cirstea Eases Past Kalinskaya

Speaking of injuries and Anna Kalinskaya had herself returned to competition after a three-month layoff because of a fitness problem but looked to be at her best in her straight-set win over Katerina Siniakova in the first round.

Unfortunately for Kalinskaya, Cirstea ended her short stay in the tournament as she sealed off a straight-set win in round two of the competition.

Cirstea needed a mere 67 minutes to cruise to a 6-3, 6-4 win over Kalinskaya, in a match where she dominated her opponent with her strong serving. Kalinskaya found it difficult to break Cirstea and it was only after she was a break down in the second set that she won her first break-point.

While the Russian broke back using that break-point, Cirstea hit back almost immediately before serving out the match.

Cirstea, like Rybakina, will now be gunning for her maiden fourth round spot at this tournament and starts off 5/2 (with bet365) to do that.

Rybakina v Cirstea Prediction and Tip

Rybakina is in far too rich a vein of form to go down to a player ranked outside the top 10 and we believe she will come through here in two.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Rybakina to win: 3/10 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Under 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (with bet365)
