Lucia Bronzetti followed her quick first round win with another straight forward victory in the second round on Wednesday.
The world no. 60 needed an hour and 30 minutes to defeat the Japanese, world no. 173, 6-3, 6-3.
Bronzetti saved 7 of 10 break points that she faced in the contest and converted 6 of 10 to reach her third tour level quarterfinal of the season. She made it to the final on both the previous occasions that she reached the last eight stage this year.
While Bronzetti won her maiden WTA title in Rabat, she finished runner-up in Bad Homburg.
Additionally, Bronzetti also featured in an ITF final on indoor surface and played in two WTA 125 semifinals in Florence and Chicago
She began her Guangzhou campaign with a 6-1, 6-0 thrashing of Yang Ya-yi and will be looking to reach a third tour level semifinal of the season with a win on Thursday.

Minnen Outlasts Dart
Greet Minnen outlasted Harriet Dart in a three hour and 18 minute second round contest on Wednesday.
The Belgian, world no. 68, saved two set points to win the first set in the tiebreak. She was then edged out by the Briton in the second set tiebreak.
In the final set, both players exchanged a break in the middle of the set before Minnen got a second break in the set to clinch a 7-6 (9-7), 6-7 (5-7), 6-4 victory.
Minnen had earlier beaten Diane Parry 6-2, 6-2 in the first round. Thanks to the two wins, Minnen improved her season record to 53-16 across levels. The 26-year-old played her first two WTA 125 finals this year, finishing runner-up in both the tournaments.
She also featured in four ITF finals this year and has a 2-2 record in them.

Bronzetti v Minnen Prediction and Tip
Bronzetti has enjoyed more success at the highest level this year and will be banking on that experience. Also, Minnen would be drained after the three hour-plus contest on Wednesday, which will also be a factor favouring the Italian. It will be interesting to see if Minnen can recover quickly for the quarterfinal. If she does, she is in excellent form and could well reach a first semifinal of the year.
