Felix Auger-Aliassime v Vasek Pospisil Head to Head

Felix Auger-Aliassime has won all three of their previous meetings, beating Pospisil at Indian Wells in 2018, Wimbledon in 2019 and the Canadian Open, also in 2019.

In-form Auger Aliassime Looks To Start Well

Canada’s Felix Auger Aliassime comes to Vienna on back of some solid performances in Cologne. First he reached the final of bett1Hulks Indoors, where he fell to Alexander Zverev in straight sets. He followed that runner-up finish with a run to the semifinals of the bett1Hulks Championship this week only to be ousted by Argentina’s Diego Schwatzman.

One of the NextGen stars, ranked 22nd in the world, Auger Aliassime has had two very good years on the Tour, but is yet to win a title, despite having appeared in six finals (3 in 2019 and 3 this year).

This season, he reached the final at Rotterdam, where he was beaten by Gael Monfils. The very next week, he found himself playing another final, this time in Marseille, but yet again a title remained elusive, as the Greek won in straight sets. His third final of the year was in Cologne last week, which ended in a straight sets defeat as well.

Entering the tournament with a 23-16 win-loss record this year, Auger Aliassime will be hoping to continue his October form in Vienna.

Vasek Pospisil Qualifies For Main Draw

Facing Auger Aliassime in the first round will be Canadian qualifier Vasek Pospisil. A Wimbledon quarterfinalist in 2015, Pospisil won back-to-back three-setters against Austria’s Alexander Erler and Jason Jung to qualify for the Vienna event.

This season, the 30-year-old Pospisil has had a few decent results, which included a final in Montpellier, where he finished runner-up to Gael Monfils. He also reached the quarterfinal in Marseille and the fourth round of the U.S. Open, his best ever showing at Flushing Meadows.

A Wimbledon doubles champion in 2014, along with Jack Sock, Pospisil is currently ranked 80th in the world and enters the tournament with an 11-8 record this year.

Auger-Aliassime v Pospisil Prediction and Tip

Felix Auger-Aliassime will look to carry his Cologne form to Vienna and is expected to start well against an opponent who is yet to beat him. Expect Auger Aliassime to win in straight sets.

Tip: Auger-Aliassime to win in straight sets: 1/1 (bet365)
