Garbine Muguruza v Caroline Garcia Head to Head

Earlier Muguruza had fallen in the quarterfinals in Berlin and then failed to proceed beyond the third round at Wimbledon, signalling a dip in her form.
The year had begun much better than that for Muguruza, who made it through to three finals and won one title – all of which came in hard court competitions. Can she now shrug things off from the previous week and get back to her winning ways on what has been her favourite suface this year – she is 23-7 on hard.

Qualifier Garcia Edges Past Stephens
It’s been a lacklustre season for Garcia so far and the former world number four has now fallen to 63rd in the world which meant she has had to qualify for the main draw.
Wins over Alycia Parks and Fiona Ferro helped her get to the round one where she was faced off against American player Sloane Stephens.
Now Stephens had gone into the contest as bit of a favourite but a fighting first set victory for Garcia evened the contest out. While the American did level things out by winning the second, Garcia clinched the encounter 7-6 (7), 4-6, 6-4 to seal her second round berth.
This win was just her eighth on hard courts this season, which goes with eight defeats as well for Garcia. And now while she takes on a player who has struggled a tad in recent times, Garcia will need to up the ante to have a chance.
