Vasek Pospisil v Ilya Ivashka Head to Head
Pospisil and Ivashka have not been involved in a career, head-to-head meeting till date. However, both crossed the opening hurdles at the US Open, albeit with contrasting wins, and will have to bring out their best as they play each other for the first time ever in the second round.

Coming into the Flushing Meadows on the back of a opening-round defeat at the Canadian Open and failure to clear the qualifiers for the Cincinnati Masters, Pospisil ran into veteran Italian tennis star Fabio Fognini in the first round.
Though the Canadian didn’t have grand expectations of himself coming into the Grand Slam, especially considering the fact that he made a comeback to the Tour only recently after an extended break, Pospisil played literally out of his skin to fashion a stunning, come-from-behind victory over the seasoned Italian.
Fognini seemed to have a firm grip on the match and one foot into the second round, winning the opening set 6-2 and followed it up with a similarly commanding 6-3 victory in the second.
However, the tide turned quite spectacularly in favor of the 58th-ranked Canadian thereafter as Pospisil routed the Italian in the third set and followed it up another scintillating set of tennis to take the match to a decider.
The deciding set went to a tiebreaker where the Canadian pipped the Italian 7-4 to set up a second-round meeting with emerging Belarussian star Ilya Ivashka.
The Belarussian is coming off his maiden Tour title at Winston-Salem and will pose a stiff challenge to the Canadian in his next.

Ivashka Fights Past Sandgren in Opener
Rising from the disappointment of his failure to get through the qualifying rounds and reach the main draw at Cincinnati Masters, 27-year-old Ivashka, who is still relatively new to the men’s Tour, lifted his maiden title at his next event — the Winston-Salem Open.
Ivashka upset the likes of former Grand Slam champion Marin Cilic, Jan-Lennard Struff, Pablo Carreno Busta and Emil Ruusuvuori on the way to reaching the final and setting up a final clash with Swede Mikael Ymer.
The final turned out to be a one-man show as the Belarussian dominated his opponent from start to finish, racing to 6-0, 6-2 win and lifting his maiden Tour championship title.
Coming into the US Open high on confidence, Ivashka ran into home favorite Tennys Sandgren. However, barring the opening set, which went to a tiebreak, the Belarussian faced little resistance from the American.
After taking the first set in a tiebreak, Ivashka raised his level by a further few notches to eventually come through in straight sets.
Given the form he is in currently, the 53rd-ranked Belarussian should fancy getting the better of the seasoned Pospisil in the second round.
Pospisil v Ivashka Prediction and Tip
On current form, Ivashka starts as a clear favorite in this second-round tie. However, as he showed in his come-from-behind win in the first round, Pospisil can still be a handful on his day.
