Arthur Rinderknech v Roman Safiullin Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 26-year-old Frenchman, and his Russian opponent who is two years younger.

Safiullin Hoping for Bright 2022

Safiullin is one of the lesser known of the current crop of top Russian players, although he was junior champion at the Australian Open in 2015, the tournament where he made his Grand Sam debut last year.

He made the second round there and replicated that feat at the French Open, again after coming through qualifying.

He has spent the majority of his career on the junior tours where he has won 20 and 4 doubles titles.

Th most recent of those successes came in February 2020 when he won both the singles and doubles at a Challenger event in Cherbourg, France.

Based on comparative world rankings and experience, Rinderknech should win this encounter, although it should be noted that Safiullin enjoys playing in Australia and has experienced success here before.
