Felix Auger-Aliassime v Taylor Fritz Head to Head

There is no history between these two players at any level before this.

Auger-Aliassime Broke World’s Top 10

Felix Auger-Aliassime chalked off another major milestone in his burgeoning career towards the end of last season. By virtue of reaching the Stockholm semifinals last November, he broke the world’s top 10 for the first time and became the third Canadian after Milos Raonic and Denis Shapovalov to achieve that feat.

Auger-Aliassime has slipped one spot down to 11th at the start of the new season, but that should not dampen his mood ahead of Canada’s third straight appearance at the ATP Cup. The 21-year-old is Canada’s team captain, and along with Shapovalov, boasts a formidable duo at this year’s tournament.

Since he burst onto the scene at the Challenger tour as a 14-year-old, Auger-Aliassime has been touted as tennis’ next superstar. But his potential rise to stardom has been littered with a few speedbumps, such as his mind-boggling 0-8 record in tour-level finals.

Auger-Aliassime will retain the services of Toni Nadal in a coaching capacity this season and will be keen to cross the finish line this year.

Frtiz Braced For ATP Cup Appearance

What a year for Taylor Fritz. It beggars belief how Fritz, whose French Open campaign ended in a wheelchair, was able to finish as USA’s No.1 – reaching a career-high ranking of World No. 23 in the process.

His miraculous recovery from a torn meniscus took precisely 27 days. He exited Roland Garros on 3rd June following a four-set defeat to Dominik Koepfer. And he was back on the lawns of Wimbledon at the end of the month to compete and win his first-round match over Brandon Nakashima against the odds.

Fritz would reach a respectable third round at the All England Club, and he rolled up his sleeves in his subsequent tournament participations. He headlined the biggest semifinal of his career at Indian Wells, and would finish runner-up to Marin Cilic in St. Petersburg.

Those results proved sufficient to usurp John Isner in the standings and become America’s top-ranked player in 2021. But the pair will join forces this week as part of the USA’s team.

Auger-Aliassime v Fritz Prediction and Tip

If Felix Auger-Aliassime performs to his potential, Canada will be a force to be reckoned with at the ATP Cup. Fritz was handed a total shellacking at the exhibition event in Abud Dhabi against Shapovalov. And for a player with a stinging return like Auger-Aliassime, this will be a difficult hurdle for Fritz to clear.
