Hubert Hurkaz v Alex Molcan Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the Pole, who is 25, and the Slovak, one year his senior.

Hurkacz Yet to Get Going in 2022

Hurkacz began the year ranked just outside the top ten in the world, but there is a sense that his season has yet to really get going, after a  number of early exits from events, and he has failed to build on his success in the ATP Cup, where he won all three matches playing for his country.

His most recent appearance was in Rotterdam, where he lost to the Italian Lorenzo Musetti, but he will be feeling better about life after his convincing win over Alexander Bublik, the man who lifted the trophy in Montpellier a  few weeks ago, in the first round in Dubai on Tuesday.

Bublik was on the back foot almost straight away, dropping his opening service game of the match. He never recovered it, and, although he did save four set points, Hurkacz duly served out next game.

The first two games of the second set were shared, but then Hurkacz took over and reeled off the next five, as he cruised to victory. Bublik had no answer, was broken three times, and the match was over after exactly an hour.

Lucky Loser Molcan

Like Hurkacz, Molcan’s best result in 2022 came right at the start of the year, when he reached the quarter-final of the Melbourne Summer Set event,  and then he got to the second round of the Australian Open.

Since then, results have been harder to come by, and he was forced to enter the qualifying competition in Dubai, losing in the second round of that to the Japanese player Taro Daniel.

He, though, earned a reprieve as a lucky loser, taking the place in the main draw of Boric van de Zandschulp against Lloyd Harris, and took full advantage of the South African’s current run of poor form,  a break in each set enough to earn him passage to the next round.

Hurkacz v Molcan Prediction and Tip

Hurkacz is yet to get beyond the second round of a tournament this year, but this seems like a golden opportunity to end that run.

Tip: Hurkacz to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
