A quarterfinalist in Guadalajara last week, Camila Osorio bring good form to the Monterrey Open. Having featured in just two tournaments this year, the Colombian is 2-2 this season. She had bowed out of the first round of the Australian Open in her season opener.
Last week, Osorio began her Guadalajara campaign with a straight sets win over Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova and then rallied to beat the United States’ Hailey Baptiste in the second round. The Colombian’s run ended in the last eight with a straight sets defeat to Anna Kalinskaya.
Osorio, who won the Copa Colsanitas last year for her maiden WTA title and then reached the final of the Tenerife Open to show that she can be equally dangerous on hard courts, had an 18-12 season on the tour last year.
The 20-year-old, ranked No. 44 in the world, also got her first top ten win over Elina Svitolina in Tenerife last year. She is a fast improving player and will be looking for another deep run in Monterrey.

Frech Struggling in Main Draws
World No. 94 Magdalena Frech is 4-5 for the season. The Polish player got her only main draw win on the tour last week at Guadalajara over Renata Zarazúa.
Zarazúa was also the player whom Frech had beaten for her first WTA 125K title in Concord, United States, last year.
Frech was 6-8 in the main draws at the tour-level last year. She also won an ITF title besides winning her WTA 125K title.
The 24-year-old right-hander lost in the first qualifying round in Melbourne but won both qualifiers in Sydney, only to suffer a first round defeat. She then failed to add a second win in Grand Slams, falling in the first round of the Australian Open to Simona Halep. Frech failed to make the main draw in Dubai, winning one and losing the next qualifying round.
She finally won a first round match in Guadalajara, but could only win two games during a second round drubbing at the hands of Sara Sorribes Tormo.
