Slovenia’s Tamara Zidansek will be playing for the first time since the Australian Open.

After being knocked out in the opening round in Adelaide-1, Zidansek made it to the semifinals in Adelaide-2 only to pull out of the final four contest due to fitness issues.

The 24-year-old, who made a stunning run to the semifinals of the French Open last year, made an impressive start at the Australian Open, reaching the third round for the first time in the opening major. She however was out of action since then and will be making her first appearance Friday since the third round defeat at the Melbourne major.

The World No. 22 made her debut at Indian Wells last year, winning the second round match but falling in the third.

She is coming off her best season so far, having finished with a 22-18 record in 2021 and will be hoping to continue impressing with her performances this year.

Martic Dumps Out Bondár

Croatia’s Petra Martic won a third consecutive first round match of the season to advance to the second round on Wednesday.

Martic, who lost her opening round matches in Melbourne and the Australian Open, defeated Hungary’s Anna Bondár 7-5, 6-3 in a close to two hour contest on Wednesday. The Croatian converted half of the six break points she held in the match, while saving all of the break points that she faced.

Ranked No. 79, the 31-year-old also won her first round matches in St. Petersburg and Monterrey.

The 2019 Istanbul champion is making her eighth appearance in Indian Wells. Her best came in 2018, when she made it to the quarterfinals.

Tamara Zidansek v Petra Martic Prediction and Tip

Both their previous matches have gone the distance and it won’t be a surprise if this is headed in the same direction. But the outcome could be different this time with Zidansek getting her first win over Martic.
