Ons Jabeur v Daria Saville Head to Head

There have been two previous encounters between these two players and both have won one. Saville’s win came in Baku way back in 2013 while Jabeur defeated her opponent in Charleston in 2018.

Jabeur with a Middling Start to the Season

She would have preferred a better showing than her results have been this season and this would be a good place to start to resurrect that for Jabeur.

The Tunisian number one has six wins to three defeats spread across the three competitions she has participated in so far in 2022, with an injury issue hampering her preparation for Australian Open as well.

Back to back wins in Sydney, Melbourne and Doha were all followed by a defeat, but to be fair to Jabeur those came against players of higher pedigree or better form.

What Jabeur would hope for now is to kick-start this year’s Indian Wells Open with a solid showing as she hunts for a replay of her performance last season at this tournament – she had made it to the semifinal in this tournament in 2021.

Saville Shocks Shuai

She is ranked 41st in the world but Shuai Zhang had to face the ignominy of a first round defeat against Saville. The Aussie, who is still reeling as a 409th-ranked player overcame her Chinese opponent in straight sets to enter round two.

Saville took an hour and 32 minutes to get past Shuai, winning 6-3, 6-2 and inch a step closer to her best ever showing here – she has seen the third round of this competition in each of her previous three appearances here.

Where Saville scored over her opponent was her ability to play under pressure with the Aussie saving 12 of the 13 break-points. On the other hand, she broke Shuai five times in the match to seal the encounter.

Can she now deliver a performance equally good against the world number 10 though?

Jabeur v Saville Prediction and Tip

Jabeur will be a huge favourite here, starting out 1/5 to win this and while she should come through, we expect Saville to put up a strong fight.

Tip: Jabeur to win AND Over 19.5 games in the match: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
