Daniil Medvedev is back to winning ways in Miami after somewhat of a shaky appearance in Indian Wells. The Russian certainly does not count himself amongst the fans of these brutally slow courts in Miami as he prefers to end his point quickly but so far it’s not been an issue in Miami.
Two comfortable wins so far including the latest one against Pedro Martinez have Medvedev buzzing with confidence. The Russain recently lost his number one ranking and obviously, he is eager to get back there. A strong run in Miami could help him achieve that.
Standing in his way is supercharged American Jenson Brooksby who is enjoying a very strong run so far on North American style. It will be an interesting watch as neither players employs a very classical style of tennis but both are were effective.

Brooksby Proving He Belongs
There have been some doubters about Jenson Brooksby and his style of play. It’s not traditional, it’s not conventional yet it seems rather effective as the American is on the cusp of making a quarterfinal at the Miami Open. He has several fans amongst the most knowledgable in the world of tennis and that is not a coincidence.
Those with a trained eye see something in Brooksby and that some is a lack of fear and no desire to change how he plays tennis. It’s going rather well for him and a sensational comeback win over Bautista Agut will certainly inject some more confidence in him.
He won’t fear playing Medvedev and that makes him extremely dangerous. The different style will take some time to get used to and this could turn quite messy for Medvedev. Will it be enough for a win, find out below.
Medvedev v Brooksby Prediction and Tip
They have never played before and that’s mostly to Brooksby being quite novel to the ATP Tour. They both have a unique style that takes getting used to, especially in a first-time matchup. Brooksby generally tends to attack a bit more by nature which works well here in Miami.
He is also able to create some tricky angles and he never gives up in rallies but that’s the case with Medvedev as well. This match could have some long rallies and that should suit Medvedev better as physically he is more equipped to handle a longer match.
Both can serve well but Medvedev is far superior there and that may lie the key. He dropped serve only a couple of times while Brooksby lost his serve in all matches he played so far. He will need to clean that up if he wants to win. I think he will but not enough to stun the Russian.
