Alexander Zverev v Casper Ruud Head to Head

The players met twice in 2021 on the hard courts of Cincinnati and Paris with Zverev winning in straight sets each time.

Zverev Form Improves

Coming into 2022 with a strong end to the last season, Alexander Zverev was one of the favorites for the swing Down Under and expected to continue his good form.

However, it was a below par early part of the season for the German. An early loss at the Aussie Open to Denis Shapovalov was followed by an unexpected Montpellier final defeat to Alexander Bublik.

Acupulco was controversial with the disqualification due to unsportsmanlike conduct and Indian Wells saw another early loss, this time to American Tommy Paul.

After an early round bye,  Zverev was up against Borna Coric, coming off an injury lay-off who pushed the number two seed before Zverev won the match in three sets.

The German has continued to get better with each match this week dropping only four games in his 6-2,6-2 win against American Mackenzie McDonald and then winning a well strung fourth round encounter against in-form Aussie Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-4,6-4 to seal a place in the final eight.

Impressive Norrie Win For Ruud

It has been a mixed season for the Norwegian thus far pulling out of the Aussie Open and the ATP 500 in Rio, but won the title in Argentina before losing out in the third round of Indian Wells to Nick Kyrgios.

Casper Ruud won his first ever main draw match at the Miami Masters last week against Henri Laaksonen and has gone from strength to strength since on these Florida hard courts.

Expecting to face a stern test against Montpellier Open champion Alexander Bublik, Ruud prevailed in straight sets and then followed it with another straight sets win against in-form 2021 Indian Wells Cameron Norrie of Britain.

The Norwegian served well and broke Norrie at crucial instances in both sets to claim an impressive hard court victory making his first ever quarterfinal at the event and looking to continue a confident boosting run here heading into the clay swing.

Zverev v Ruud Prediction and Tip

A good encounter on the cards with Zverev getting back into the groove and Ruud impressing on the outdoor hard courts.

While it will depend on who plays the bigger points better, expect the German to dictate more points with his serve and prevail in a decider.

Tip: Zverev to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
