Ons Jabeur picked up some form during the Sunshine double and it’s transferred in Charleston with the Tunisian playing her best this year. She’s quite familiar with the event having played two strong events here last year. She even reached the final of the Charleston II event but lost in the final.
This year she’s 11-5 on the year with a 3-0 record at this event without dropping a single set. First, she defeated Emma Navarro, then Irina Begu and then Anhelina Kalinina. That win over Kalinina was particularly impressive considering the clay level of the Ukrainian.
There is not much that is troubling Ons at the moment. She seems healthy, she’s playing great with a lot of confidence. That should suit her well.

Anisimova still going strong
Amanda Anisimova opened the year in stellar fashion and she is still going strong. There some strange things happening at the Sunshine double for the American but if she is locked in she is very tough to beat. The record on the year confirms that 14-5 and she’s hopeful of reaching the final here in Charleston.
Doing so will be tricky against a player that she never faced and that’s something Anisimova struggled against in the past. She’s pretty good but her play does not possess much variety and she will need to be very strong against Jabeur to win this one.
Jabeur v Anisimova Prediction and Tip
So they never played against each other and that will make this a very interesting affair. Anisimova has been playing pretty well overall but there have been moments in her game where players could have exploited it better. Jabeur for the better part of the week has not shown any weaknesses.
She’s also played some of her best tennis in the past two years on these courts so there is a certain comfort level that Anisimova perhaps does not have. There is also a lot of variety in her game that has frustrated much stronger clay players than Anisimova.
It should be a close, probably a 3-setter but I can see Jabeur emerging victorious. I’ve just been rather impressed with what she’s been doing it.
