Neither of the three victories Rakhimova scored this week came easy as the Russian was forced to play three sets in all o those matches They required quite a bit of fight from her but she passed the test with flying colours in all three of them.
She did not play her best in either of those matches but the Russian is slowly showing a level of mental fortitude that she lacked in the past. Even when things don’t go her way she doesn’t panic and starts dropping points. She keeps playing and keeps pushing and that is doing wonders for her.

Maria Proving She Belongs
Tatiana Maria was retired but then she unretired and the German is showing everybody she has still got it. It’s quite a strange thing to see players that have been retired for quite some time suddenly come back to tennis. THat’s what Maria has done and she’s looking decent.
She won’t be ranked inside the top 50 but she is proving she belongs on the WTA tour. Another statement win and a trip to the final could further prove her point which is part of the motivation that keeps her going. She loves to play tennis and it’s showing this wee in Bogota.
An 18-7 record on the year makes you pause but most of those wins came against lower-ranked players and this is one of the rare weeks where she can prove herself against some of the better players.
Rakhimova v Maria Prediction and Tip
So this is a very interesting matchup between two players who’ve had different weeks. Rakhimova played a lot of tennis requiring 9 sets to advancce to the semifinal. Her opponent played much less tennis requireing only six sets to do the saem thing.
Nonetheless the wins of Rakhimova have been far more impressive as teh Russian played against better players this week. I fully expect her to rise to the occasion once more if fatigue allows it. She’s young so she should have some more energy left in the tank.
As inspirational as Maria’s run has been so far I think it ends here. Probably a 3 set battle but I think Rakhimova has enough.
