Dusan Lajovic v Filip Krajinovic Head to Head

The pair have played each other three times before and Krajinovic leads their head to head series by two matches to one.

Lajovic won their first meeting on clay in Hamburg in 2014, but Krajinovic has won their two subsequent matches on outdoor hard courts, most recently at Indian Wells last month.

2019 Runner-Up Lajovic

Lajovic came close to capturing what would have been the biggest title of his career when he reached the final in Monte Carlo three years ago, before losing to Fabio Fognini in straight sets.

Three months later he did win the Croatia Open, also on clay, and that remains his solitary ATP senior title, although he did enjoy success on the Challenger tour earlier in his career, with a number of clay court tournament victories to his name.

2022 has not been his best year on tour so far. He has not won more than a  single match at any event he has entered, and even his brief sojourn on the clay of South America in Buenos Aires and Rio did not go well for the Serb.

He will be hoping that being back in Europe may inspire him.

Krajinovic a Nearly Man

Krajinovic is one of the nearly men of tennis. He has appeared in four ATP finals, two of them on clay, and lost the lot, most recently in Hamburg last year, where Pablo Carreno-Busta beat him in straight sets.

His best previous performance in Monte Carlo was last year when he reached the third round, the furthest stage he has been in the French Open as well.

However, his best result of the year so far came not far from Monaco in Montpellier, where he reached the semi-finals before losing to the eventual winner Alexander Bublik, so perhaps there is something in the air in this part of the world that appeals to him.

Lajovic v Krajinovic Prediction and Tip

Krajinovic beat Lajovic just a month ago but that was on an outdoor court. Lajovic will be hoping that clay can be a leveller, and, given his exploits here three years ago, will be looking to progress.
