Dan Evans v Roberto Bautista-Agut Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between these two players.

Evans Arrives in Monte-Carlo Seeking Form

Evans kickstarted his 2022 season really well, posting 3 wins at the ATP cup, going into the Australian swing undefeated. The Australian Open swing was not too bad for the Brit, reaching the semi-finals of Sydney, losing to Karastev in the last-4 after defeating Martinez and Cressy in the opening rounds.

Then, reached the 3rd round of the Australian Open losing to Auger-Aliassime after defeating Goffin in the opening round and then receiving a walkover from Rinderknech.

By his standards, his season has not really taken off since, failing to post consecutive wins since the Australian Open. He has suffered opening round defeats in 3 out of his last 4 tournaments, falling at the first hurdle in Dubai, Miami, and most recently in Marrakech. In Miami and Marrakech, losing to players ranked much lower than him.

Since Australia there have been two second-round appearances in Doha, losing to Davidovich Fokina after beating Gerasimov in the opener. Then most recently in Indian Wells losing respectively to Nadal after defeating Coria in the opening round.

Bautista-Agut Aiming for Doha Form in Monte-Carlo

Bautista-Agut has fared slightly better than Evans but still has not set the world alight with his results. Losing in the second-round of both Indian Wells and Miami. In addition, a second-round exit in Dubai losing to Vesely saw Bautista-Agut packing his bags much earlier than expected.

However, preceding this the Spaniard lifted the trophy in Doha defeating Basilashvili in the final 6-3 6-4. On his way to the silverware, he defeated Murray, Davidovich Fokina, and Khachanov before sealing the deal, dropping just one set the entire week.

The Spaniard finds himself in the same quarter as Djokovic with a potential round-of-16 clash with the Serbian. A win for the 14th seed would seal his place in the second round setting up a tie with either a qualifier or wildcard Goffin.

Evans v Bautista-Agut Prediction and Tip

Another insane first-round match between two top-30 players that could have easily faced each other much later in the tournament. Based upon recent form, I would argue the Spaniard is the favourite to advance to the next round and score his first win over the Brit.

Tip: Bautista-Agut to win: 2/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
