They never played against each other.

Cirstea Looking For Wins

Sorana Cirstea has played a very solid year so far but now she gets to play on a surface that suits her play rather well. The Romanian player has an excellent clay game with a superb winning percentage on the surface. She posted an 11-3 record last year on it and she will look to be even better this year.

So far it’s been a solid year, she’s 11-8 with a  bit of a rough stretch lately. She took part in both events of the Sunshine double but won only one match in Indian Wells. That was one against Anna Kalinskaya and Simona Halep in the next round proved too much of a challenge.

In Miami, it was Shuai Zhang who proved better easily beating her 6-1 6-1. Now, back on clay Cirstea will be looking to get back in shape before a crucial part of the season starts.

Sasnovich Improving Every Day

Aliaksandra Sasnovich has been steadily improving for a very long time now. The player from Belarus always showed promise but a lack of consistency hurt her. She was never able to string together some strong events that would allow her rankings to improve.

Well, that changed. Last year she posted a 25-21 record with the year before a 21-14 record. This year She’s already up to 15 wins with only 7 losses and she aims to win at least 30 matches. Her ranking is also the best it’s ever been so she is certainly playing a very strong year.

Recent results are pretty solid. She bested some good players on hard courts but lost to better ones at well. Her final match was in Miami where she lost to Bencic. Clay is a tricky surface for her as it’s not her best but if she can improve here as well she will be dangerous to play.

Cirstea v Sasnovich Prediction and Tip

This match could go either way yet I’m going to keep it simple. One of these players is the far better clay player and has played well on the surface for many years.

The other is not but she is probably in a better form lately and this year generally. If you think Sasnovich can overcome her clay woes against a strong player like Cirstea take her.

If you think that surface comfortability matters then take Cirstea. I’m going to trust Sorana because she has been absolutely great on clay before. In a match between two players who did not play a couple of weeks, I think that matters more.

Tip: Cirstea to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
