Coco Gauff v Daria Kasatkina Head to Head
They played once before and it was in 2019 in Miami with Kasatkina winning 6-3 6-2.

Coco Gauff has not had the greatest of years so far as the American has only a 10-7 record. Her performances during the Sunshine double have been quite weak considering we’re talking about a top 20 player who’s been hovering around there for over a year now.
In truth, she faced very tough opposition as Halep proved better in Indian Wells and Swiatek in Miami. Those are respectable defeats but the American has a chance to better herself on the European clay. She won a trophy on it last year and played superb tennis at the French Open.
Overall she went 16-4 on the surface she got to know while training at the Mouratoglou Academy in France. She’s never been in Stuttgart but her game is suited for clay and she is very quick around to court. That should suit her well in this event.

Kasatkina Shaking Off a Rough Patch
Darya Kasatakina opened the year well with some strong performances down under. She failed to continue to play that way as her Sunshine double proved rather disappointing. A move to her preferred surface of clay should od her well as the Russian has been dominant on it before.
Her game consists of attacking play with very precise groundstrokes that allow her to drag her opponent across the court before finishing off rallies. That is perfectly suited for clay and despite a 5-5 record on the surface don’t discount her prowess on the surface.
She is 97-39 on the surface in her career and that number of wins will increase this year as well. Stuttgart is a familiar place for her as she played three times before with her best result coming in 2019 when she reached round 3.
Gauff v Kasatkina Prediction and Tip
So this is a matchup between two players who are not playing that great lately. Gauff is 10-7 on the year with Kasatkina being 11-7 on the year. Neither played any clay matches this season so both will need some time to adjust. Both play rather well on the surface with Kasatkina having more experience.
The problem for the Russian is that Gauff can easily negate her biggest advantage with her quickness around the court. The Russian won’t be able to outhit Gauff as easily and that frustration might breed errors. Overall Gauff should have issues only if she can’t serve well.
Unfortunately, it’s been a recurring theme for her so be prepared for some struggles there. Overall this will be a match with many breaks but I do think that Guaff will get it done. She’s looked superb on the surface last year and I’ll trust her for now.
