Tamara Zidansek v Laura Siegemund Head to Head

Tamara Zidansek is what you could consider a noted clay specialist as the Slovenian player plays well mainly on clay with very little success outside of the surface. She’s amassed quite a bit of points over the year as she is ranked firmly inside the top 30 and the clay season is where she will do most of her damage.
She proved it last year by going 21-6 on the surface with a very strong showing at the French Open as well. Her first event will be the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart where she never played before. It’s a unique experience and she will look forward to playing some clay tennis.
Her record on the year has been mixed with 5 wins and 5 losses but all of those matches happened on hard courts. Now back on clay expect her to win some matches.

Siegemund, More of a Doubles Player
Laura Siegemund at this stage is more of a doubles player than a very good singles player although she still play singles from time to time. Playing on native soil is something she will cherish despite her results being very weak this year. She only played six matches his year and won 3.
Throughout her career, Siegemund has been predominantly a very good clay player posting a strong score on that surface with other surfaces being quite weak compared to that. She will try to complicate things for her opponent and recently in the Billie Jean King Cup, she showed she still has some juice left.
Zidansek v Siegemund Prediction and Tip
So this is a matchup between two very strong clay players. Zidansek is the better play by far and she generally performed better this season. I don’t think she will have many issues against her opponent in this matchup yet a native player is always a tricky opponent. I do think Siegemund can make it interesting but I don’t see her winning.
Zidansek is simply too good of a player and too strong on clay to let this one go. Back Zidansek to take it comfortably in two sets.
