Frances Tiafoe v Dusan Lajovic Head to Head
Tiafoe leads 3-1 from their four previous meetings, all of them have been on hard courts. Most recently, they met twice last season, with Tiafoe scoring a comeback win in Miami and winning in straight sets in Vienna.

World No. 29 Frances Tiafoe brings in a 7-7 season record into the tournament. The 24-year-old American, who featured in the fourth round of the Miami Open and reached the quarterfinals in Houston over the last one month, suffered a straight sets defeat to Felix Auger-Aliassime in his has previous tournament in Barcelona.
Tiafoe had won the Round of 32 match against Hugo Dellien but was stopped from proceeding to the quarterfinals by the Canadian.
Had he made the last eight, that would have been just the second quarterfinal appearance for Tiafoe this season, who has lacked consistency and has fallen in the earlier rounds of six of the seven tournaments he has featured in this season.
He has a solid 6-3 record in Estoril though, having finished runner-up to Joao Sousa in 2018. He was also a quarterfinalist in 2019, b8ut was knocked out in the first round last year. Can he go deep this time?

Lajovic Has Struggled This Season
World No. 78 Dusan Lajovic just hasn’t got going this season. The Serb, who has not won two consecutive matches in 2022, comes in with a 5-12 season record. He suffered his most recent setback at the Serbia Open, losing in the first round to Japan’s Taro Daniel.
The 31-year-old is 0-1 in Estoril, but has a decent record on clay and both his final appearances have come on the surface. Lajovic won the title in Umag and finished runner-up in Monte Carlo Masters in 2019.
The Serbian’s five wins this season came in the first rounds at the Sydney International, Australian Open, Argentina Open, Mexican Open and the Monte-Carlo Masters.
He is 2-4 on clay this season and will be hoping to improve that record.
