Naomi Osaka v Sara Sorribes Tormo Head to Head
They played two times before with Osaka winning both matches. The most recent one came at the Madrid Masters in 2019 with Osaka winning 7-6(6) 3-6 6-0.

Naomi Osaka played her first clay match in a very long time and she was superb. The Japanese player opted to travel to Europe early, going to Mallorca to train at the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy. She observed Nadal and his preparation there picking up a few tricks and tips as well.
Osaka took on Anatasia Potapova in the first round, a player who was red-hot and playing with a lot of confidence. The Russian took an early break but once Osaka settled in she was unstoppable. She finished off the job with 6-3 6-1 and after the match, she spoke about how good she felt about it.
Facing an opponent whom she defeated twice before and once on clay should pump her up to deliver another smashing performance, especially for a player who tends to defend. If Osaka can win another easy match she will be very confident moving forward.

Huge Win for Sorribes Tormo
The native Spaniard scored a huge win in the Madrid Open first round against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. The Russian did not play for several months and she was almost able to pull out of this match. That’s not ideal for Sorribes Tormo who should have won it much easier but the matchup was the problem.
The Spaniard does not do well against super-aggressive players as she gets easily overpowered from the baseline. The Russian did not have the consistency needed to win the match allowing the Spaniard to score a huge win. She’s not having a great year with only 12-7 on the year and she needed the win.
Things will be much more complicated against Osaka but keep reading if you want to see how things might go.
Osaka v Sorribes Tormo Prediction and Tip
If Pavlyuchenkova was a problem for Sorribes Tormo, Osaka will be an even bigger one. The problem gets more complicated when we throw in how Osaka played in the first round. She did not serve well and she still dominated the rallies.
Against Sorribes Tormo she should do that even more convincingly and if she serves better it will be a very quick match. I still think it will e a quick one as I don’t see a way Sorribes Tormo can hang with Osaka. Take the Japanese player to do it in two.
