Miomir Kecmanovic v Alexander Bublik Head to Head

The pair have played each other before at the Astana Open last year, Bublik winning their second round match in three sets.

Kecmanovic at All-Time Career High Ranking

Kecmanovic is one of the most consistent players on tour right now, and he already had a string of quarter-final appearances under his belt in 2022, including in the first two Masters event of the year, at Indian Wells and Miami, by the time that he turned up in Estoril last week.

And he was able to improve on that record by reaching the last four, with a chance to play Botic van de Zandschulp for a place in what would be his third ATP final.

And the last time the Serb got that far, he ended up winning the tournament on the clay of Kitzbuhel in September 2020.

Already having reached a career high singles ranking, he is set to go even higher in the next few weeks.

Bublik Made Quarter-Final Last Year

Bublik would not describe himself as a clay court player, so it is some irony that he emulated his best performance in a Masters event in Madrid last year, reaching the quarter-finals, before losing to Casper Ruud.

The man born in Russia but who has since switched his international allegiance to Kazakhstani has had his say on the banning of players from his former country from participating in Wimbledon this year, insisting tournament organisers have the right to do so.

The 24-year old broke his ATP tournament duck earlier this year in Montpellier, where he beat Alexander Zverev in the final.

That remains the high water mark for him in 2022 so far, and he would have been disappointed to lose his opening round match in Munich last week, easily beaten by the Finn Emil Ruusuvouri in straight sets.

Kecmanovic v Bublik Prediction and Tip

This is set to be a close contest, and, having reached the quarter-final last year, Bublik will be keen to do well again. However, he is playing a man who has become one of the most consistent performers on tour this year, and will arrive in Spain full of confidence.

The Serb might just have the edge.
