Emma Raducanu played spectacular tennis in Madrid taking down several opponents in a stellar fashion. However, in the match against Klainina, Raucanu experienced some back issues that have plagued her in the past as well and she was not able to win that match.
Overall it’s been a positive few weeks for Raducanu on the clay courts of Europe because she is looking very strong on a surface she never played on until recently. It’s been somewhat of a revelation but she herself explained she can be very good on clay.
Overall in 2022, she is 7-8 but 4-2 on clay. If she can continue playing well and if the back issues hold up she will see her rise even further, possibly even inside the top 10. She is currently 11th.

Comeback Looking Promising for Andreescu
Bianca Andreescu played her first matches in 2022 in Stuttgart and from the start, she looked pretty good. The Canadian took time away from tennis due to several personal issues as well as some injury struggles. Now, back to competing, Andreescu is looking sharp losing only to Jessica Pegula, the finalist in Madrid.
She played five matches so far and she’s 3-2 in those but both her losses came against players in peak condition. Andreescu is far from it and still wins like the one over Collins should be taken seriously. After all she is a major champion just like Raducanu.
She never played in Rome before so this will be a new experience for her but she proved that that doesn’t matter in Madrid so I expect a solid result here as well.
Raducanu v Andreescu Prediction and Tip
So these two players have very similar stories. Both of them broke out at the US Open winning the event as underdogs but the story of Raducanu is far more unlikely. Both of them have tremendous talent and both enjoy playing attacking tennis.
Both have played rather well lately and both have shown promise in Madrid. Stylistically, Raducanu should have an advantage in this matchup but with clay, it’s never as easy as it seems. Both can win this match especially since Raducanu has those back issues.
They rarely get better over the course of a few days so I expect Andreescu to take this one. Not sure it ends in two but I like Andreescu here. Tricky one to call so be careful, Raducanu can win this one as well.
