Felix Auger-Aliassime v Marcos Giro Head to Head

They played once before and Felix won that match 6-2 6-3 in Halle last year.

Strong Play By Auger-Aliassime

Felix Auger-Aliassime opened the clay season in abysmal form losing a couple of matches that he should have won. He is a top 10 player and that ranking comes with a certain expectation. His clay journey has been a strange one. As a teenager, he was pretty good on it yet last year he completely bombed the entire clay season.

Early indications showed a similar thing might happen again which was not expected as Toni Nadal was supposed to bring out the best in him. However the Canadian is slowly turning the corner with a couple of great matches lately, especially in Madrid and Rome.

A marathon match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina was a good indicator that he is feeling pretty confident right now. He will need that against Giron who out of nowhere is close to the quarterfinal. Felix wants it as well so this should be good.

Finally Good Tennis From Giron

Marcos Giron has never been a world-beater yet the American has slowly carved out a nice career for himself and he’s not yet done improving. A lot in his game depends on his serve so naturally courts that enhance his serve are best suited for him.

Rome is not that type of court but Giron is showing a lot of grit at this event. He won a couple of matches leading up to the event in the qualifiers and he using a very good draw to come close to a quarterfinal here. First, he came back to win against Alexander Bublik who hates clay but then he bested Diego Schwartzman.

Both of those wins are respectable and it’s showing that the American will beat you if you give him a chance. Can he do it again against Auger-Aliassime? Find out below.

Auger-Aliassime v Giron Prediction and Tip

So they played once before and it happened last year on grass. Felix won that match rather easily and it just showed that there is a huge gap in talent between these two players. That gap should allow Felix to win this match on clay as well as the surface is quite punishing when it comes to talent differences.

Both players will want to serve well, especially Giron who will be hoping for a lot of short returns that he can punish. Felix will try to avoid getting baited into long rallies where he can make mistakes. Giron can be quite annoying to play against as he can put a lot of balls back in.

If Felix handles that well and if he doesn’t get annoyed by it and stays patient he should cruise. He will as he is finally showing why he is ranked inside the top 10.

Tip: Auger-Aliassime to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
