This is just van de Zandschulp’s second full season on grass and it’s been bit of a mixed bag for the otherwise vastly-improved Dutchman.
He appeared in all three tournaments he could have given the three weeks between the French Open and Wimbledon and while he did make it as far as the semifinal at the Queen’s Club competition, van de Zandschulp’s performances in the other two left a lot to desire.
At Rosmalen, van de Zandschulp went down to Emil Ruusuvuori in three sets in the first round, and then yet again, against Marcos Giron, a 9/5 underdog in their opener at Mallorca, the Dutchman failed to make round two.
As far as overall form goes, however, van de Zandschulp has done well enough this season to climb up to his career-best ranking of 26th in the world. And despite what happened in Mallorca, he will back himself to win his second match at Wimbledon having reached round two last season too.

Lopez Hasn’t Won a Main Draw Match in a While
Lopez is in the twilight of his career and the former world number 12 has been trying hard to turn things around for himself.
That, however, has proven to be a tough task for the Spaniard.
Take the case of 2022 and Lopez has won just one match from the 11 tournaments he’s played in. And that too a qualifier.
Add that to the fact the last time Lopez won a main draw match at the highest level was in July last year and we are looking at a player really gasping at the highest level despite all his experience.
And coming up against an opponent in the kind of form that van de Zandschulp is in, Lopez could have to wait a little while longer to break that hoodoo.
