Emma Raducanu v Louisa Chirico Head to Head

It will soon be one year since Emma Raducanu’s historic US Open feat, where she won the Slam in New York – all the way from the qualifying rounds.
The 19-year-old has since not repeated such a feat in any other event – much to the chagrin of her fans. However, one may argue that Raducanu has ways to go as she is still young and continues to build her form and experience.
Her tally for the season is 9-12, with her highlights being round two stints in all three majors and a couple of third-round feats in Indian Wells, WTA Stuttgart, and Madrid Open. She has hardly posted any high-profile wins this season – barring wins over the likes of Sloane Stephens and Caroline Garcia.
Here in Washington, Raducanu is making her debut in the tournament – in addition to competing in the doubles for the first time on the WTA Tour. She has joined hands with Clara Tauson, so it will be interesting to see how it goes.
Apart from this, she has also hired Dmitry Tursunov as her coach; the Russian has previously worked with Elena Vesnina, Aryna Sabalenka, and most recently, Anett Kontaveit.

Chirico, Up Against a Giant
Louisa Chirico may feel the pressure when she takes on the Grand Slam champion Raducanu, but the statistics are on her side, for what it’s worth.
The 26-year-old American is 23-11 in 2022, although a good chunk of those wins came on the ITF circuit. Her highlights are the title run in Charlottesville and several late-stage appearances in Macon, Arcadia, and Palm Harbor.
When looking at her WTA form, she hardly has any matches to show. Louisa has spent most of the season competing in low-tier events.
Her last WTA event was in Palermo, where the current World No. 216 lost in the opening qualifying match to Gabriela Ce.
She began as a qualifier here in Washington and beat Yue Yuan and Xiyu Wang in three sets to make it this far.
Raducanu v Chirico Prediction and Tip
Raducanu has the advantage of working with the best of the best in the world, a superior pedigree, and a loyal fanbase. Chirico is the David in this match and is likely to be fazed when she takes the court.
However, the Brit is out of form and Louisa may just find an opening to win this one. Backing the American may not be the worst move to make.
All in all, expect a good game of tennis.
