Van de Zandschulp On Debut

World No. 26 Botic van de Zandschulp will be making his Canadian Open debut this year.

The Dutch player brings a 26-19 season record into the tournament. Yet to win an ATP title, Van de Zandschulp reached his maiden final in Munich, by beating Kecmanovic in the semifinals, but couldn’t complete the final, having to retire just after seven games in the first set.

Van de Zandschulp’s other notable performances this season include a semifinal finish in Queen’s and quarterfinal finishes in Melbourne and Marrakech.

Last year’s U.S. Open quarterfinalist, Van de Zandschulp also produced his best result at Wimbledon this year, reaching the fourth round of the tournament.

The 26-year-old has an 8-7 record on hard courts this year and has an overall career record of 21-16 on the surface. Can he get off to a winning start against an in-form player?

Kecmanovic In Hot Form

World No. 38 Miomir Kecmanovic has been in great touch this season. The 22-year-old Serbian comes into his second Canadian Open with a 29-15 season record behind him.

The 22-year-old made it to the semifinals in Los Cabos last week. This was his second final four appearance this year, having also made it that far in Munich.

Prior to Munich, he made five consecutive quarterfinal appearances, but couldn’t go past the last eight stage. Among the five quarterfinals, were back-to-back ATP 1000 last eight finishes in Indian Wells and Miami. While it was the second time he had made it that far in the former, he made his quarterfinal debut in the latter.

As a result of those solid performances, Kecmanovic is 14-5 on hard courts this season. Can he keep the good work going at the Canadian Open?

Van de Zandschulp v Kecmanovic Prediction and Tip
