Roberto Bautista Agut v Jenson Brooksby Head to Head

They have met twice before and both of those meetings took place this year. While Brooksby won in the Round of 32 in Miami, Bautista Agut won in the Round of 64 in Madrid.

Bautista Agut Overcomes Giron

Roberto Bautista Agut extended his current win streak to five matches as he knocked out Marcos Giron in the opener on Tuesday.

The match, which began on Monday, ended the following day with the Spaniard winning 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in an hour and 59 minutes.

The World No. 18 held 14 break points in the match but he could capitalise on just four of them. In contrast the American qualifier held four break points with the 14th seed saving half of them.

Bautista Agut last featured in the Kitzbuhel Open two weeks ago, going on to win the title — his second of the season. The 34-year-old had earlier won the Doha title and was also a finalist in Mallorca in addition to the team final at the ATP Cup.

Bautista Agut improved his Canadian Open record to 10-5. He has been a quarterfinalist in his past three appearances and will be looking to at least make it that far this year as well.

Brooksby Bundles Out Bublik

World No. 46 Jenson Brooksby needed an hour and 26 minutes to dispatch Alexander Bublik in straight sets on Monday.

The American broke the World No. 41 twice in each set, while getting broken just once in the entire match to score a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Bublik could get just 47% first serves right, winning 555 points on them. He had 10 more winners than Brooksby’s 15 but made 39 unforced errors compared to the American’s 8.

Thanks to the win, Brooksby improved to 19-14 this season. The 21-year-old, who reached his maiden final in Newport last year, made it to two finals this year, in Dallas and Atlanta, finishing runner-up in both the hard court tournaments. As a result of those performances he is 14-6 on hard courts this year and will be looking to improve that further in Montreal.

Monday’s win was his first ever at the Canadian Open following his first round exit on debut last year.

Bautista Agut v Brooksby Prediction and Tip
