This will be their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Riske Coming off Mixed Results

Alison Riske-Amritraj is arriving in Cincinnati for the Western & Southern Open 2022 on the back of mixed results.

The 32-year-old American started the US Open swing in San Jose, where she fell in the opener to the 21-year-old Elizabeth Mandlik in straight sets.

She followed that with an impressive-albeit-short stint in the Canadian Open, where she beat two Grand Slam winners consecutively – Petra Kvitova and Jelena Ostapenko – to reach round three.

It was a shock loss for Alison as she fell to Yulia Putintseva 3-6, 5-7.

Looking at her track record in the tournament, Riske-Amritraj has never made it past round two here – it may also be the case this year, as she is likely to run into Coco Gauff next.

That said, the current World No. 35 can surprise. She has two finals to her name from Adelaide and Nottingham and a round-of-16 streak from the Miami Open.

Tormo, Poised to Impress

25-year-old Sara Sorribes Tormo has had an impressive year on the WTA Tour; she is now ranked #41 after reaching the peak at #32 in February.

Her tally is 22-14, and among her highlights is a title run in Abierto Zapopan and a doubles championship in Istanbul. However, it is worth noting that Tormo is a clay-court specialist; this year, she has been most consistent on this surface.

Case in point, Sara was a quarterfinalist in Istanbul and Madrid – beating the likes of Naomi Osaka, Daria Kasatkina, and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. She reached the same rounds in Lausanne and Palermo too.

However, when the action switched to hard courts, the struggles were apparent as she lost in the second round in Toronto last week to Aryna Sabalenka.

Riske-Amritraj v Tormo Prediction and Tip

In all fairness, this match can go either way. Alison has the advantage as she plays at home and is a well-known hard-court specialist. But a day at work can quickly open up opportunities for Tormo to exploit.

Expect a close affair.

Tip: Riske-Amritraj to win, Over 20.5: 11/8 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
