Kubler Looking Strong

Jason Kubler won three matches this week and if he wins another one he’ll find himself in the quarterfinal. The Australian has had a really strong year so far but the Wimbledon run sticks out completely. Unfortunately for him, he didn’t get any points for that finding himself outside of the top 100 despite playing on a top 50 level.

It started with a win in the qualifiers for him and since then he’s added wins over Marton Fucsovics and Kwon Sonwoo to find himself with a chance for the quarterfinal. The opponent is a tricky one in Djere but also one he is expected to beat, especially on hard courts.

Djere grew up on clay and he generally doesn’t play that well on these courts. Kubler is 45-14 so far this year and 16-7 on hard courts so he should be able to get this done.

He just needs to keep playing his game and not allow Djere many chances. Sound simple, right?

A Rare Hard Court Quarterfinal Chance for Djere

Laslo Djere plays his best tennis away from hard courts on the red dirt but the Serbian can find some form o the surface. He has a chance to reach a rare quarterfinal on hard courts but to do that he needs to beat Jason Kubler.

Djere already won two matches this week and they are very impressive wins. The first one came over David Goffin in three sets and that’s a notable one. Goffin is a strong player but also one that did not win since Wimbledon. He then faced Joao Sousa and beat him in three sets as well.

That win was a comeback one as he lost the first set. It’s been an okay season for Djere so far but also one with many heartbreaking losses.

His hard court record is 5-5 so that can certainly improve but it will quite complicated against Kubler. He will need to serve well because if he doesn’t it’s over. Unfortunately, he does tend to have issues with serving from time to time which is far less of a big deal on clay.

Kubler v Djere Prediction and Tip

The problem for Djere here is that his opponent is fairly consistent. He doesn’t have a high ceiling but a pretty decent floor and usually plays like it.

Djere needs to find a way of creating break points and win service games easily. Having played two 3-setters won’t help him and I’ll think Kubler will prevail.

Tip: Kubler to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
