Maxime Cressy v Marton Fucsovics Head to Head
They have never met at the tour-level, but Cressy won their only meeting in a qualifying round in Madrid this year and that match needed a deciding set to separate the two.

He claimed his maiden title in Newport on grass, but hasn’t been able to carry that form to the hard courts of North America. Since that title, Cressy won one and lost one at the Washington and Canadian Opens. He made a first round exit from Cincinnati and most recently won consecutive matches in Winston-Salem to reach the quarterfinals before being dumped out by Adrian Mannarino.
So, Cressy heads to his third U.S. Open in decent touch, but he would have liked to go in with a bit more consistency.
Overall the season has been a breakthrough season for the 25-year-old, who began the year at No. 112. But he broke into the top 100 in the second week itself after reaching his maiden ATP final in Melbourne. He continued the good form down under, reaching the quarters in Sydney and the fourth round at the Australian Open. His form dipped on clay, but he rose again on grass, reaching the finals in Eastbourne and winning the title in Newport.
As a result of all those solid performances, Cressy peaked to a career-high of 31 earlier in August. Currently ranked No. 34 in the world he heads to the U.S. Open for the third time. He is 2-2 from his last two appearances and would look to win his first round match for the third consecutive year.

Fucsovics Struggling to Get Wins
World No. 96 Marton Fucsovics has struggled throughout 2022 and will be looking to win his first main draw match since June. He had last beaten Hubert Hurkacz to reach the Stuttgart quarterfinal, but had to pull out of the last eight clash against Nick Kyrgios, while trailing in the contest.
That was the third quarterfinal appearance of the season for the Hungarian, following his runs in Rotterdam and Doha. He has been mostly quiet this season and is on a fur-match losing streak in the main draws. In Winston Salem this week, he made the main draw as a lucky loser but fell to Tseng Chun-hsin in the opening round.
The 30-year-old is 13-16 overall this year and has constantly seen a dip in the rankings having started the season at No. 40.
At the U.S. Open, Fucsovics will be competing for a seventh consecutive time since his debut, but he has suffered five opening round defeats previously and the only time he went through, it was in 2020, when he fell in the third round. How far can he go this year?
