Holger Rune v Peter Gojowczyk Head to Head

He appeared to be back to his pre-French Open form at last week’s Cincinnati Masters where he pushed British No. 1, Cameron Norrie, very close in a three-set defeat.

Can Gojowczyk Repeat Last Year’s Exploits?
Peter Gojowczyk is clearly well past it at 33, but you cannot write him off, especially after his extraordinary to the fourth round of the US Open last season. He came through qualifying at last year’s tournament, benefitted from a very generous draw (not that the likes of Humbert and Lajovic are pushovers), and was only beaten by Carlos Alcaraz in the Round of 16 in five sets.
However, he has spent most of this year qualifying for ATP Tour events, only managing to play 15 main draw matches and suffering a whopping 12 defeats.
But it is quite surprising that his two wins this year came against the likes of Brandon Nakashima and Ugo Humbert, whilst also benefitting from Alexander Zverev’s default in Acapulco, in a tournament he made the quarterfinal.
Last week, he scored a confidence-boosting win over Czech rising star Jiri Lehecka for just his third win of the season.
