Alize Cornet v Katerina Siniakova Head to Head

World No. 40, 32-year-old Alize Cornet scripted a new record at the US Open by making her 63rd consecutive Grand Slam appearance – the most successive appearances in a major by any player in the WTA history.
She celebrated this historic feat in style by upsetting the defending champion Emma Raducanu on Tuesday with a 6-3, 6-3 win.
It is certainly an impressive (and not-so-surprising) result, as Cornet arrived in New York on the heels of a semifinal run in WTA Cleveland.
Her record now stands at 21-20, highlighting Alize’s largely erratic season. Among her highlights is a maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal run (Australian Open), a semifinal stint in Bad Homburg, and a fourth-round run at Wimbledon.
Nonetheless, Cornet is a daunting opponent with vast singles experience – something that should help her ease past Siniakova.

Siniakova Survives Townsend
Doubles No. 3 and singles No. 83 Katerina Siniakova endured a rocky start to her campaign at Flushing Meadows as she battled past Taylor Townsend in three sets.
The match went on for a little over two hours and saw Katerina win the match 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 – despite committing 51 unforced errors. Lucky for her, Townsend wasn’t having a good day at work as she committed 52 mistakes – but was undone by an inferior level of play.
The 26-year-old is now 18-17 in 2022, and before this, she had lost her opening-round matches in Cincinnati and Cleveland.
Her season’s high point remains an ITF title in Poland, alongside four big doubles titles (Aus Open and Wimbledon).
Cornet v Siniakova Prediction and Tip
Cornet has the advantage here; she is highly experienced and more comfortable on the singles circuit. Siniakova may put up a fight, but in the end, Alize should take this one.
