Karolina Pliskova v Victoria Azarenka Head to Head
The two players have quite a bit of rivalry behind them. They have met eight times in total, with the tally now tied at 4-4. They last met in the 2019 Italian Open where Pliskova won in three sets.

Former world number one Victoria Azarenka has been fairly successful in the US Open, reaching the final here thrice (most recently in 2020) and quarterfinal twice.
Given her rich pedigree and experience, the 33-year-old will fancy her chances of doing so again.
So far, the World No. 26 has moved past Ashlyn Krueger, Marta Kostyuk, and Petra Martic. With every game, Azarenka has gotten increasingly better and more clinical – with the match against Martic lasting just for an hour and 22 minutes. Vika took that match 6-3, 6-0, with 22 winners and just 12 unforced errors.
Azarenka’s current tally now stands at 20-10, with her ongoing run at the Flushing Meadows matching her previous best result from the Australian Open, where she fell in the round of 16 to Barbora Krejcikova.
In her last two tournaments – notably the Citi Open and Cincinnati Open – the 41-time WTA career finalist was beaten in the early rounds.

Pliskova, Looking Sharp
World No. 22 Karolina Pliskova looks more like herself after enduring a harrowing start to the season due to a hand injury.
It hasn’t been the best of the seasons for the 30-year-old Czech, but she is doing well to turn it around in the penultimate leg of the tour.
Right before her current R16 appearance in New York, Pliskova was a semifinalist in the Rogers Cup, where she upset the likes of Krejcikova, Amanda Anisimova, Maria Sakkari, and Qinwen Zheng.
That result, however, was followed by a second-round defeat to Elise Merteisn in Cinci.
Here in the US Open, where Pliskova was a runner-up in 2016, she has moved past the likes of Magda Linette, Marie Bouzkova, and Belinda Bencic with some doing. The match with Linette ended in a third-set tiebreak, with Pliskova getting the win by the slimmest of the margins (6-2, 4-6, 7-6(8)).
With Bencic, the win was more straightforward with 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.
Given the exciting rivalry between the two players, this match can very well go either way.
