Iga Swiatek v Ons Jabeur Head to Head

The tally stands at 2-2 right now. Swiatek got the last laugh in the 2022 Rome Open final in straight sets. As for Jabeur, her last win over Iga came in the Cincinnati Open last year.

Swiatek in her Third Major Final

At just 21 years old, World No. 1 Iga Swiatek is set to compete in her third Grand Slam final. If she continues on a trajectory like this, there is no reason why she cannot outdo Serena Williams and even Margaret Court, for that matter.

Of course, only time will tell how things go, but given her current trajectory, it is a sound assumption.

Swiatek is now 56-7, heading into the final at the Flushing Meadows. Sans for a couple of three-setters with Jule Niemeier and Aryna Sabalenka, she has pretty much brushed aside her competition with commanding performances.

Her other victims in New York are Jasmine Paolini, Sloane Stephens, Jessica Pegula, and Lauren Davis.

Of course, this is over and beyond the sensational season Iga has had in 2022. She has six singles titles – four of which are WTA 1000 trophies from Miami, Indian Wells, Doha, and Rome. Then there’s the Stuttgart Open and the biggie – the French Open, where she won the Slam dropping just one set en route.

And as for her list of opponents, there is no dearth of high-profile names – including Naomi Osaka, Petra Kvitova, Coco Gauff, Maria Sakkari, Anett Kontaveit, and Simona Halep.

Swiatek started the US Open with outright odds of 15/8 to win; she is now 8/15 to beat Jabeur.

Such low odds may not be entirely justified as Ons can give Iga a run for her money.

Jabeur Knocks Out Garcia

Punters who backed Jabeur to reach the final will be happy. Bookmakers had pitted Caroline Garcia with a higher chance of making it to the last round than Jabeur, but the Tunisian proved them wrong.

Ons won the match 6-1, 6-3 – her biggest win in the tournament. The match lasted for just 67 minutes and saw the fifth seed strike 21 winners and win 83% of the points behind the first serve.

The 28-year-old performed similarly in the preceding rounds against Ajla Tomljanovic, Veronika Kudermetova, Shelby Rogers, Elizabeth Mandlik, and Madison Brengle. All in all, she dropped just one set.

If there is a player who can give Swiatek a scare, it is Jabeur. She is now 44-13 – boasting of an impressive pedigree herself this year. The World No. 5 was most recently the runner-up in Wimbledon – preceded by her title runs in Madrid Open and German Open, and runner-up feats in Charleston and Rome.

Like Swiatek, Jabeur (who is 8/5 with bet365) has also beaten her fair share of top 10 players who are well known on the WTA Tour. She also has the advantage of being a more experienced player than her Polish counterpart.

Swiatek v Jabeur Prediction and Tip

At 8/15 with bet365, Iga is the odds-on favourite to win this one. Meanwhile, Jabeur is at 13/8 to win the major – down from 5/1 the bookies had pegged her in the previous rounds.

Going with the tide here seems to be the norm, but we can increase the profits by backing this one to be a long affair. In other words, Swiatek should bag the US Open 2022, albeit with some doing.

The handicap market also offers some interesting opportunities with the youngster at -3.5 games (1/1 with bet365) – so that may be another avenue worth exploring.

Tip: Swiatek to win, Over 20.5 Games: 7/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
