Adrian Mannarino v Mikael Ymer Head to Head

The pair have played each other once before on the main tour, and that was in Melbourne last year, Mannarino winning in straight sets.

However, when they played in the Challenger event on clay in Bordeaux three years ago, it was Ymer who emerged the victor.

Mannarino’s Up and Down Year

Mannarino has had a very up and down season, which began brightly with a fourth round appearance at the Australian Open, followed by three successive quarter-finals and then tailed off in dramatic fashion, and he struggled to win a single match for nearly four months.

However, moving to grass brought some return of form and he reached the semi-finals in Rosmalen, and he was able to carry that over into the American hard court season, reaching another quarter-final in Atlanta, and then winning the event in Winston Salem, to claim just the second senior title in his career.

He would have had high hopes, then, of a good run at the US Open, but was beaten in the first round by the Dutch qualifier Gijs Brouwer.

Since then he has won a Davis Cup match playing for France against Germany, and he is looking for a strong end to the year.

Ymer Struggling for Consistency Too

Ymer has had his own struggles with consistency this year, reaching the semi-finals in Montpellier in February, but then struggling for results, and, at one stage, he dropped out of the top 100 altogether.

However, he reached the third round of the French Open for the first time, and then, at the Washington Open, got all the way to the semi-finals, beating Andy Murray along the way, before losing to the eventual winner Nick Kyrgios.

However, having reached the final in Winston Salem last year, he was beaten in the second round this time, and, like Mannarino, failed to get beyond the opening round of the US Open.

He has since lost two Davis Cup ties playing for Sweden.

Mannarino v Ymer Prediction and Tip

Although both have been very inconsistent in 2022, Mannarino won their previous match on the main tour last year, and he has the benefit of home court advantage, so he should win.
