The world no. 76, who reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time this year, by winning her first two matches in Melbourne, produced her best result of the season in Monterrey, where she was a semifinalist.
She was also a quarterfinalist in four other WTA tournaments and also featured in the final four in the WTA 125 in Valencia.
She prefers playing on hard courts and enters the final tour-level clay court tournament with an 11-11 season record on the surface across tournaments. She is currently on a three match losing streak, which began with a quarterfinal defeat in Granby. She lost her opening round match at the U.S. Open and then lost her opener in the Budapest 125. Cocciaretto Has Impressed on Clay at Lower Level Tournaments
Elisabetta Cocciaretto has notched wins consistently at the lower level tournaments. The 21-year-old Italian finished runner-up at the WTA 125 tournament in Makarska on clay. She also reached three ITF finals this year, all on clay, winning two of those titles.
Cocciaretto is 35-18 overall this year, with a 30-13 record on clay.
This month, the World no. 98 was a quarterfinalist at the WTA 125 in Bari but lost in the first rounds in Bucharest and Budapest (both WTA 125 clay events).
Cocciaretto will be looking to put up a strong show in the opener and make an early impression at home in Parma.
