Dimitar Kuzmanov v Ugo Humbert Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before.

This will be the first meeting between the 29 year old Bulgarian, and the Frenchman, who is six years younger.

Kuzmanov Gets Wildcard into Home Event

In time honoured fashion, Kuzmanov has been given a wildcard into what is his home tournament, with the current ranking of the Bulgarian number two not good enough to earn him an automatic place in the main draw.

Despite that, his current world ranking represents progress of sorts, because it is the highest he has managed since turning pro in 2009.

He won his maiden Challenger tournament last October in Barcelona and was runner-up in an event in Bengaluru in February.

Kuzmanov fell at the final hurdle in his attempt to qualify for the US Open, and, since then, has won a Davis Cup tie playing for his country against South Africa, and reached the second round of the Challenger tournament in Genoa last week.

Humbert Won on the Challenger Tour Earlier This Month

Humbert had endured a difficult 12 months since winning his third major tour title on the grass of Halle last June, and his ranking had plummeted after a run of consistently poor results and form.

However, he managed to arrest the slide by winning a Challenger event in Rennes earlier this month, easily beating former Grand Slam winner Dominic Thiem in the final.

He was unable to carry that form into the Moselle Open, losing his first round match to compatriot Benjamin Bonzi in three sets, and was forced to enter the qualifying competition in Bulgaria.

He beat Ernests Gulbis of Latvia and Filip Cristian Jianu of Romania, both in straight sets, although he needed a second set tie-break to get past Jianu.

Kuzmanov v Humbert Prediction and Tip

Whilst Kuzmanov will have the benefit of home conditions and local crowd support, Humbert has been showing glimpses of the form that has seen him win three titles on the main tour, and will back himself to make the second round.
