Oscar Otte v Dragos Nicolae Madaras Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before.

This will be the first meeting between the 29 year old German, and the Swede, who is four years younger.

Otte in the Middle of a  Mini Slump

Despite not hitting the same heights in 2022 as he managed last season, when he won three titles on the Challenger circuit, Otte did reach his first ATP tour semi-final on home soil in  Stuttgart on grass in June, and then promptly followed that up with another one in Munich.

He then went on to reach the third round of Wimbledon, his best showing to date in a Garnd Slam.

However, having chosen to miss almost the entire North American hard court season, he is now in the end of a mini-slump and has lost his last five matches in all competitions.

That sequence began with the US Open where he lost his opening match, and continued in France last week with his first round straight sets defeat to Gregoire Barrere in the Moselle Open.

A Surprise Appearance for Madaras in the Main Draw

Madaras is proof positive that there is more to Swedish male tennis than just the Ymer brothers, although all of his successes have come on the ITF tour, where he has appeared in five finals this year, winning four of them.

He recently stepped up to the Challenger tour, reaching the semi-finals of a an event in Bosnia, but to reach the main draw of a senior ATP tournament is an unexpected outcome for Madaras.

A bit of luck came his way in his first qualifying match when his opponent, Stefano Travaglia of Italy, retired with injury, although Madaras was five games to the good at that stage.

However, there was nothing fortunate about the way he beat the local man, Petr Nestrerov, in straight sets, to earn his chance against Otte.

Otte v Madaras Prediction and Tip

This should be an ideal opportunity for Otte to end his losing streak, against an opponent for whom just appearing in the main draw is an experience in itself.
