Grigor Dimitrov v Ilya Ivashka Head to Head
There have been two previous matches between these players and both have won one.
Dimitrov clinched their first match-up on the clay courts of Geneva last year before Ivashka made it 1-1 at Wimbledon as his Bulgarian opponent retired after being two sets down.

Dimitrov has always done well on hard court surfaces with his record on that surface reading a whopping 244 wins to 159 defeats. This year, he has won just 10 of his 21 matches in hardcourt competitions, and just three from eight matches on the US Open Series.
Injury might have played a part in this too.
Dimitrov was leading by a set in his Wimbledon first round match against Steve Johnson, when it looked like his groin gave way. He had to retire from that match and since then, while the Bulgarian player has returned, he has struggled to make it count.
Playing on home turf for just the second time, Dimitrov would like to emulate what he had done the first time – won the title in 2017. Can he kick things off strongly?

Ivashka Edges Past Ymer
It turned out to be a challenging first round encounter for Ivashka but in the end he would be relieved he managed to prevail upon Mikael Ymer.
Ivashka was on court for a whopping three hours and 24 minutes for his opening match against his Swedish opponent, winning 7-6 (8), 4-6, 7-5 to seal his place opposite Dimitrov.
He had an opportunity to serve out the first set twice – at 5-4 and 6-5 respectively – but in the end, Ivashka needed four set-points in the tie-breaker to take the lead.
Ymer broke in the third game of the second set to level things out and a string of breaks in the decider meant there wasn’t anything to choose between them. It was in the 12th game when Ymer served to stay in the match that Ivashka got himself a match-point and converted it to seal the deal.
He will hope to make it two in two.
