Stefanos Tsitsipas v Holger Rune Head to Head

Rune won their only meeting at the French Open this year, winning the fourth round contest in four sets.

Tsitsipas Into His Seventh Final in 2022

Top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas delivered his best performance of the Stockholm Open on Saturday as the Greek brushed aside Emil Ruusuvuori in the semifinal and booked a place in the seventh final of the season.

The world no. 5 looked in top form during the comfortable victory. There was an early exchange of break in the first set, but Tsitsipas soon took control and won four games in a row to take a one-set lead. He was even more dominant in the second set, not facing a single break point and dropping just five points on his serve to score a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

The one-hour-and-14-minute victory was the quickest for the nine-time tour level champion this week.

He had needed two hours and four minutes to beat American Maxime Cressy 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (14-12) in the second round and had needed an hour and 44 minutes to beat Mikael Ymer 7-5, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. That last eight contest had seen him save 10 of 11 break points as the Swede gave a tough fight.

So, the Greek will be happy with the convincing performance on Saturday. In the past six finals this year, Tsitsipas, who is 56-19 this season, won the titles in Monte-Carlo and Mallorca, but finished runner-up in Rotterdam, Rome, Cincinnati and Astana. Can he win his 10th title in his 24th career final?

Rune Rebounds in Second Straight Match to March into Final

Nineteen-year-old Holger Rune has been impressive this season and he is finishing the season on a very strong note.

The seventh seed Dane, who had knocked out the second seed Cameron Norrie in a come-from-behind win in the quarterfinal, repeated the act in the semifinal on Saturday, as he rallied from a set down to oust the fifth seed Alex de Mianur.

The world no. 27 broke the Aussie in the very first game of the match, but the latter broke back immediately and then again in the last game to take a one-set-to-love lead.

Both players broke each other twice each in the second set, before Rune ran away with the tiebreak to force the decider. He got an early break in the third as well, but a determined De Mianur sent the set back on serve after breaking in the seventh game. But the Dane broke once again in the last game to wrap up the two hour and 51 minute contest 4-6, 7-6 (7-1), 7-5.

Rune, who had never reached a final before this season, will be playing in his third final of 2022 on Sunday. He won his maiden title in Munich and reached a second final in his previous tournament in Sofia, only to finish runner-up to Marc-Andrea Huesler.

So overall he is 8-1 from the last nine matches. The road to final in Stockholm included straight set wins over Thiago Monteiro and Cristian Garin, followed by comeback wins over Norrie and De Mianur. Can the world no. 27 continue that winning run in the final?

Tsitsipas v Rune Prediction and Tip

Rune is in hot form and he also won their only meeting earlier this year. So he will be confident going into this one. However, Tsitsipas is far more experienced at this level and and has consistently made deep runs on the tour. So he is better equipped to soak in the pressure of a final. Expect the match to go the distance with Tsitsipas emerging victorious.
