Casper Ruud v Lorenzo Musetti Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the qualifiers of the 2019 Rome Masters and Ruud had won that in straight sets.

After racing off to a very quick start in the encounter, Ruud did need to save a set-point in the second set but came through 6-1, 7-6 (7) to seal his third round berth. This win follows a first round bye and his own struggles for form.
After having made the final at the US Open in September, Ruud was 1-3 on the ATP circuit coming into this tournament with successive opening round exits.
Can he now emulate his previous season’s showing at the Paris Masters where he had defeated Alexander Bublik and Marcos Giron to make the last eight.

Musetti Continues to Impress
A semifinalist at Sofia and Florence, and then having won the title at Napoli, Musetti had entered this tournament on the back of some solid form and on a surface which has traditionally not been a favourite.
Musetti kick-started the competition with a shock first round result as he creamed the favourite Marin Cilic in the first round. And taking that confidence forward, Nikoloz Basilashvili was found to be no match for Musetti either.
The Italian carved out a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Basilashvili in a match lasting a mere hour and 11 minutes to make it to the third round at Paris for the first time in his career.
A crucial break of serve in the ninth game is all that he needed to clinch the first set before racing off to a 3-0 lead in the second with back to back breaks. And while Basilashvili did pull one break back, Musetti retaliated with a third to carve out the win.
Against Ruud, Musetti might be the second favourite but has the game to overturn the world number four’s chances.
