Jack Sock hasn’t played much tennis this year. His only match was a few days ago at the Cleveland challenger and it was a loss against a player he should have beaten. Now he faces a tough challenge at the Dallas event having to play a player he is not expected to beat.
Sock had a pretty decent 2022 year as he played plenty of tennis which is good for him. When your career gets destroyed by injuries you’ll take anything you can get but this year didn’t start well. Expect him to put forward a spirited effort in Dallas.
The courts will favour American players and their playstyles. He has a perfect game for courts like that with a powerful serve and forehand.
He’ll need both to win the match as Ivashka is a really solid player whose best tennis came on American soil, much like Sock’s.

Ivashka’s Winless Year
Ilva Ivashka played only one match before this one and that’s identical to his opponent. Neither was healthy to start the year and neither looked good to start the year. His only match came at the Australian Open and it was a solid effort albeit an easy loss.
He traditionally plays really well in North America because the conditions suit his playstyle really well. He has flat groundstrokes which works well in fast conditions.
He also relies heavily on his serve which can be really good and hard to counter as well. His only trophy came in North America as well as did his only match against Sock. It was a straight-sets victory last year at Cincinnati for the Belarussian.
It will be interesting to see if he’s finally healthy enough to compete on a high level as his Australian Open match looked decent.
Sock v Ivashka Prediction and Tip
Like their last matchup, I do think this is one where Ivashka will prevail better. He’s looked better every time he played in the last couple of months and if he’s fully healthy he should take this in two sets as well.
