Wolf Returns to Winning Ways

American sixth seed J.J. Wolf put the recent Australian Open loss behind him as he bounced back with a win on his main draw debut at the Dallas Open.

Wolf who reached the second week of a Major for the first time improves to 5-2 for the new season after comfortably beating Brandon Holt 6-3 6-3 on Tuesday evening.

The two players are just months apart in age but sit almost 150 spots apart from each other in the ATP rankings. That is because Wolf has taken some giant strides in the past 18 months.

Having reached his first ATP final in Florence last autumn, Wolf is hungrier for even greater success in 2023. He had the measure of the World No. 195 Holt as he fired nine aces and won incredible 93% first-serve points.

What made the performance even more special, was he did not face a single break point in his first match in precisely two weeks.

Albot Overcomes Wild Card Krall

Radu Albot needed his wealth of experience on Tuesday night to put the brakes on a rampaging Liam Krall who briefly threatened to cause an upset on his ATP Tour debut.

Albot was in sixes and sevens in the first set as Krall tore his serve apart off the return. The young American was almost neear=perfect on net points won, rushing to finish off points at will.

But Albot is not a former World No. 39 for nothing. From 59% first-serve points won in the first set, he improved that figure to 89% in the second, and converted the lone break point of the set to level the match.

In the third set, Krall just could not keep up with the Moldovan’s aggression as he committed 13 unforced errors in the set. Albot continued his dominance on serve while at the same time converting two break points at opposite ends of the decider.

Wolf v Albot Prediction and Tip

Wolf is enjoying a major breakthrough. He is serving immaculately and his forehand is hitting his forehand even bigger than in Melbourne. I do not foresee how Albot can live with the American in such a devastating form.
