Hubert Hurkacz v Roberto Bautista Agut Head to Head

Three matches played and Bautista Agut has won ever single one of them. All three of those matches were a part of hardcourt competitions including one indoors in 2020.

Hurkacz Hopes to Better 2021-22 Rotterdam Showing

For two years in a row, Hurkacz has won his first round matches here in Rotterdam but failed to make it past that.

This time around he has a tough opening round encounter against a player ranked 24th in the world and against whom he has never won a match. Can Hurkacz notch up a victory to emulate his previous showing?

As form goes, Hurkacz looks to have started solidly but would have loved to do a lot better.

He won two of his four matches at the United Cup with defeats to Matteo Berrettini and Taylor Fritz raising questions of his top-10 chances. At the Australian Open then, Hurkacz overcame Pedro Martinez, Lorenzo Sonego and Denis Shapovalov – the last two in five sets – to reach the fourth round.

Another five-setter followed but this time Hurkacz was sent out by Sebastian Korda in a final set tie-breaker.

That sort of form could set up an intriguing contest here.

In-Form Bautista Agut Loses Montpellier Opener

He was the finalist at the Adelaide International 2 and then made the fourth round of the Australian Open where Tommy Paul got the better of him. In short, Bautista-Agut had the confidence and rhythm coming into the Montpellier Open.

At that tournament in France, the Spaniard was drawn to play local lad Arthur Fils and was a 3/10 to win that encounter. He was thrashed 6-3, 6-4 by the unheralded Fils who would go on to enter the semifinal where he lost his first match of the season to Jannik Sinner.

Bautista-Agut will like to shrug off that defeat but at the same time, he would know it won’t be easy playing a playing a world number 10.

Especially because Bautista-Agut’s record indoors isn’t as strong as it is outdoors or on grass or even on clay – which is traditionally not his most preferred surface.

Hurkacz v Bautista Agut Prediction and Tip

Interestingly, indoors is neither player’s preferred surface but Bautista-Agut has a better record on it than Hurkacz. That combined with his 3-0 head to head record makes for an interesting contest with the Spaniard to hold the edge.
