Daniil Medvedev v Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Head to Head
Their only previous match came on the clay courts of the Madrid Masters 2021 and interestingly, it was Medvedev who had won that in three.

Now, resuming his 2023 campaign on the indoor hardcourts of Rotterdam, Medvedev will hope he can better his performances from his past two appearances here. He had lost his openers at both, the 2020 and 2021 edition of the competition then.

Davidovich Fokina 4-3 in 2023
Davidovich Fokina has made a steady start to the 2023 season but he could have done slightly better at the Montpellier Open last week.
After making it to the quarterfinal of the Adelaide International 2 and then falling in the second round of the Australian Open, Davidovich Fokina looked he had a chance to make it deep in Montpellier.
Ugo Humbert’s retirement before the start of the third set of their first round match there gave Davidovich Fokina a chance to play Quentin Halys in the second. And Halys went into that encounter at 1/1 to Davidovich Fokina’s 4/5.
As it turned out, Davidovich Fokina stumbled badly, losing his serve multiple times in his 6-3, 6-3 defeat to his French opponent.
And now facing up to Medvedev, his chances of winning a round would have receded drastically.
