Maxime Cressy v Tim van Rijthoven Head to Head
This will be a first tour level meeting between the two. They met once at a lower level with Cressy winning that contest in 2021.

As we were writing this preview Maxime Cressy was preparing to play in a fourth career final.
The 25-year-old American had stunned top seed Holger Rune in a three-set humdinger on Saturday to reach the final in Montpellier. It will be his first final of the year.
In the match that lasted over two-and-a-half hours, Cressy served 15 aces and won 93% points on his first serve to equal his biggest win in terms of rankings. He had earlier beaten Felix Auger Aliassime in Wimbledon last year when the Canadian was also ranked no. 9.
Cressy is coming off a breakthrough season last year, which saw him reach three finals and win his maiden title in Newport.
The world no. 51 was slow off the blocks this year, winning just one match from his first two tournaments, but he has got into a good rhythm in Montpellier. He didn’t drop a set in the first three rounds, in fact he was not even broken by any of his first three opponents. He did drop a set against Rune, but still manage to edge past the Dane.
Whether he comes to Rotterdam as a winner or a runner-up he will be a player to watch.

Van Rijthoven Receives a Wild Card
Tim van Rijthoven shot to fame at ‘s-Hertogenbosch last season. The ranked no. 205, he got his first top 10 win over Felix Auger-Aliassime and then got another top 10 win against then-no. 2 Daniil Medvedev in the final. The incredible run to the title meant that Van Rijthoven had now become the second lowest ranked player to win an ATP title.
He followed that stunning performance with a run to the fourth round at Wimbledon. But as the season moved away from grass, the Dutchman began showing a dip in form. As a result, the 25-year-old continued to remain outside the top 100. He had reached a career-high of 101 last year, but couldn’t go beyond that.
Van Rijthoven will be playing in the main draw in Rotterdam for the first time. He had never gone past the qualifiers despite multiple attempts over the last couple of years.
He has received a wild card for this year’s event and will be hoping to upset the American in the opener.
Cressy v Van Rijthoven Prediction and Tip
Cressy is the overwhelming favourite here. He is coming into the tournament in top form, while the Dutchman has struggled since Wimbledon last year.
