Daniel Elahi Galan v Pedro Cachin Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 26 year old Bolivian, and the Argentine, who is a year older.

Elahi is Yet to Win This Year

Although primarily considered as a clay court player, Galan showed, by reaching the third round at both Wimbledon and the US Open that he is capable of adapting his game.

And he also proved he is no shrinking violet, by going toe to toe with Jordan Thompson of Australia in a bad tempered second round encounter.

However, since reaching the quarter-finals in Naples in October, he has lost every match he has played, including all four this year,

Having lost in the first round stage in Adelaide and the Australian Open, the Bolivian number one was hoping the switch to clay would bring better fortune.

Not a bit of it so far, at least.

He was beaten in the first round of Cordoba by a qualifier from Chile, and a similar fate befell him in Buenos Aires last week, except that this time the qualifier was Argentinian, Camilo Ugo Carabelli.

Cachin Ended His Own Losing Run in Buenos Aires

Cachin is still searching for the same form that saw him reach eight clay finals on the Challenger tour, and win four of them, breaking into the top 100 for the first time.

Prior to last week in Buenos Aires, he had lost every single match that he had played in 2023, which included first round defeats at the Australian Open to Pablo Carreno Busta, and to Hugo Dellien of Bolivia in the opening round of Cordoba.

He was finally able to snap that losing run in front of his home fans in Buenos Aires, beating Thiago Monteiro of Brazil in straight sets in their first round match.

But the world number 20 Lorenzo Musetti then proved too strong for him, and he lost their second round encounter for the gain of just five games.

With just Chile to come after this in the South American swing, Cachin will be aware of the need to accrue as many points as possible before the tour switches back to the US and the Sunshine Double Masters events.

Galan v Cachin Prediction and Tip

Given the recent form of the two men, anybody expecting this match to be a classic is likely to be disappointed.

Cachin, at least, now has rediscovered what it means to win again, and he will be hoping that gives him the edge in this match.
